Iyengar Yoga with Jill Jones

Iyengar Yoga is a systematic and dynamic practice. The method shares with other styles of yoga full range of body movement, beginning with a strong foundation in the standing poses and progressively introduces seated poses, inversions, backbends, restoratives and pranayama. Props are used as teaching tools and allow every body shape, size and ability to practice safely. An emphasis is placed on precise alignment of the bones, muscles, skin, breath, etc, to lead a practitioner to an inward state of awareness and to create freedom and health in the body. Specific teaching points awaken the intelligence from gross to more subtle layers of being as you progress in the practice. This act of calling one's attention inward and away from scattered thoughts enhances concentration, reduces stress, and allows for a sense of inner peace and acceptance. We have been blessed with endlessly creative and ever-evolving sequences, pose variations and therapeutic applications from the life work and continuing practice of the living yoga master BKS Iyengar. LEVEL 1: Strong Foundational work. LEVEL 2: Includes weekly practice of headstand and other inversions; builds upon Level 1 in other areas.
