Calm your mind and body with this relaxing floor practice. Yin yoga postures are practiced on the floor with props and held longer than traditional poses. This allows the vital force (chi or prana) of the body to become free of blockages as we work the same energy lines as acupuncture and help to stretch and tone muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia. This is a great practice for beginners who desire to open their body, people with injuries, athletes, or as a complement to more physical practices.

Yoga 101 is a welcoming class for beginner and newer students to learn the art of yoga. Whether you are recovering from an injury, have not exercised for a while, or are ready to begin your journey on the path of yoga; this class will give you a thorough understanding of foundational yoga postures and beginning breath control (pranayama). Students will be assisted and guided to find proper alignment of the body and focused attention of the mind. Learning yoga is a dynamic and continuous process- as students progress, a new more challenging posture may be introduced. Consideration will be given to use props where needed.

Iyengar Yoga is a systematic and dynamic practice. The method shares with other styles of yoga full range of body movement, beginning with a strong foundation in the standing poses and progressively introduces seated poses, inversions, backbends, restoratives and pranayama. Props are used as teaching tools and allow every body shape, size and ability to practice safely. An emphasis is placed on precise alignment of the bones, muscles, skin, breath, etc, to lead a practitioner to an inward state of awareness and to create freedom and health in the body. Specific teaching points awaken the intelligence from gross to more subtle layers of being as you progress in the practice. This act of calling one's attention inward and away from scattered thoughts enhances concentration, reduces stress, and allows for a sense of inner peace and acceptance. We have been blessed with endlessly creative and ever-evolving sequences, pose variations and therapeutic applications from the life work and continuing practice of the living yoga master BKS Iyengar. LEVEL 1: Strong Foundational work.
